Budget Travel in Korea

Going by train is a great option for budget travel in Korea. Korail, the state-run railroad operator, has launched the Tong Tong Tong Music Cafe Train once per month for a two-day trip exploring some of the major tourist attractions on the southern end of the country. This train travel package includes bus tours, two meals plus a roundtrip ferry ticket and admission to the scenic island of Oe for the low price of $120.

This is an excellent option for budget travelers who have yet to witness the beauty of the South Korean coastal towns. It's also worth the price for the entertainment on board, but be aware that if you are non-Korean speaking foreigners who just want to enjoy some peace and privacy on your trip, this is not the tour for you. Performances on the train include belly dancing and live music, along with singing and dancing contests which turn the train's Car 6 into a small nightclub.
