Budget Travel in Thailand

Thai AirAsia (TAA) has seen its passenger load increase this year by 22%, as it continues to be the budget travel airline of choice in the region. In response to the demand, TAA has raised its seating capacity by 17.4% to 2.15 million.
The numbers of lights on its fleet of 20 Airbus A320 jests was up 10% year on year as well, and the airline expects 7 million passengers this year. TAA led the budget carrier segment with a 58% share of flight numbers, and the airline is also on course for a long-awaited IPO in the fourth quarter of this year. The IPO will seek to raise 6 billion baht to support its continued growth. The airline also announced that it will be offering direct flights between Phuket and Kolkata, India by mid-2012.
