Budget Travel to the Arctic

Budget Travel to the Arctic

Travel to the Arctic has long been associated with high-priced trips, but The Great Canadian Travel company is challenging that stereotype with the addition of their Polar Bear Backpacker trip. This 10 day trek is targeted to students, backpackers and adventurous types who are looking for budget travel options. Guests travel 1,046 km through the wilderness by train from Winnipeg to Churchill, on the shores of Hudson Bay, Canada.

They are then transported to a popular polar bear habitat via a sturdy tundra buggy, which allows for close up viewing of the bears and amazing photo opportunities. Naturalists will also be on board to answer questions and educate travelers about the Arctic environment. The trip costs $1450, which includes all accommodations, train ride and the full day tundra excursion, along with day trips in and around Churchill and the opportunity for other activities including dog-sledding.
